Trevor Linden captured the hearts of the audience as he delivered a charismatic, insightful and entertaining talk drawing interesting comparisons between the world of hockey and today’s business environment.

The much-loved former captain of the Vancouver Canucks asked the audience what defines a good team. Skills and ethics such as discipline, hard work, perseverance and commitment surfaced to the forefront. He elaborated on the importance of roles and how it is imperative for team members to accept and embrace their roles in order to ensure company success.

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Minerals North Conference and it’s all happening in the City of Terrace. The conference brings together leaders from across the international mining community with Northern BC communities and First Nations to network, celebrate achievements and drive the future of mineral exploration in the North.

When you think of Boot Camp, a relentless series of push-ups, crunches, burpees and squats comes to mind. This type of training builds powerful muscles but TEDA’s Contractor–Supplier Boot Camp organized in conjunction with the Terrace & District Chamber of Commerce and Northern Development Initiative Trust exercised the mind on a whole different level.

A LOCAL u-brew owner has won an English award for a port-style wine he created. The bronze award is even more pleasing for Robert Broome of Wine N Suds considering that port was first developed by the English. 

“When they went to war with France, they lost access to the French grape. So they began taking wine from Portugal, but mixed it with alcohol so it would survive [the trip to England],” he said of the story of port.
