Hydroelectricity

  • connection to BC Hydro Authority provincial grid at Terrace
  • Power surplus to Alcan’s requirements is on average 100-200 MW
  • Terrace Airport industrial lands are in close proximity to the B.C. Hydro substation at Skeena
  • Hwy 37 – 287 kv electrification project starts at Skeena substation

Natural Gas

  • 40 billion ft3/yr delivered by Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. to northern B.C.
  • > 50% consumed in Kitimat Valley
  • transmission lines to 12” in diameter

Pipelines

  • 3 projects that have potential for 3 pipelines are going through environmental assessment at this time. They are Kitimat LNG, Enbridge and Pembima
