IT'S HOCKEYVILLE GAME DAY IN TERRACE
Today’s the day.
The big pre-season game Terrace is hosting between the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Islanders starts at 7 p.m. tonight at the sportsplex.
Residents can start out their Hockeyville game day with a glimpse of the Vancouver Canucks and New York Islander players.
Team buses will be pulling into the sportsplex at 9 a.m. this morning carrying the NHL players, giving the public some time to snag an autograph and pictures.
The Islanders are scheduled to have their morning skate at 10:30 a.m. and the Canucks will take the ice at 11:30 a.m. These practices are closed to the general public and will only be available to be seen by those with tickets. Names have previously been drawn for these events.
For youngsters who didn’t get a chance to see the players in the morning, some NHL players will visit Thornhill Elementary, Cassie Hall, Uplands and Suwilaawks Community School in the afternoon.
A pep rally to pump up before the game will start a 4 p.m. in George Little Park and continue all evening. TV screens are set up to televise the Hockeyville game for those who can’t attend.
For those wanting to watch at home, the game will be televised through a half-hour tape delay on Rogers Sportsnet Pacific and on Canucks.com in B.C. beginning at 7:30 p.m. The game can also be heard on Team 1040 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
For those experiencing some Hockeyville withdrawl after the game, fear not. The game and events surrounding Terrace is Hockeyville will be aired in a one-hour program on CBC Saturday, Sept. 19 beginning at 7 p.m.
