Parade pumps up Hockeyville

He was in tonight’s parade down Lakelse Ave. which signals the start of voting. STAFF PHOTOWITH THE sound of bagpipes filling the air and the beat of drums, all provided by the Terrace Pipes and Drums, the Terrace is Hockeyville parade made its way down Lakelse Ave. tonight, headed for the dramatic start of voting which will determine if the city is to be become Hockeyville 2009.
Marchers chanted “Terrace is Hockeyville” as flashing lights from RCMP cruisers and other vehicles sparkled through the cold, clear winter night.
The parade ended up at voting central, the former Northern Drugs location, at the Skeena Mall.
Voting begins at 8 p.m. tonight, concluding at 8:59 p.m. March 4.
Terrace is one of five towns in the running to become Hockeyville 2009.
There’s a lot a stake – $100,000 for arena improvements and the right to host this fall a NHL preseason game.
The winner is to be announced a week tonight on nation-wide TV.
